Main tasks
The Cataloguing Department (CD) is a body of the Office for the Cataloguing of Products Intended to Ensure the Defense of the State and the Management of the Unified System of Cataloging.
On the basis of generally binding legal regulations, the CD:
- performs cataloguing of products;
- fulfils the role of the national codification office, resulting from the principles of the NATO codification system;
- based on the request of ministries, other administrative offices and regions (hereinafter referred to as the "user"), determines the conditions for using the cataloguing system. At their request, it provides users of the cataloguing system with an overview of the products included in the cataloguing system, an overview of users, suppliers, manufacturers and agencies to which a certificate of competence has been issued or withdrawn or the effectiveness of this certificate has been suspended;
- decides on the inclusion of the product in the cataloguing system;
- checks the completeness of the draft cataloguing data on the product before assigning a cataloguing number and before including the product in the cataloguing system;
- assigns the product catalogue number, the manufacturer's catalogue code and the supplier's catalogue code;
- changes cataloguing data about the product based on changes in the product documentation and removes the product from the cataloguing system if the product does not have a user;
- verifies the competence of agencies to process draft cataloguing data about the product;
- decides on the issuance of a certificate of competence to process draft cataloguing data on the product, on the suspension of the effectiveness of this certificate and on its withdrawal;
- provides cataloguing data of catalogued products and an overview of their suppliers and manufacturers to relevant NATO authorities, similar authorities or authorities of NATO member states and similar authorities or authorities of other countries that use the NATO codification system;
- requires from relevant NATO authorities, authorities of NATO member states or authorities of other countries that use the NATO codification system to catalogue the product produced in their country.
The Cataloguing Department further:
- elaborates the concept of development of the Unified Cataloguing System;
- maintains a Unified Cataloguing System compatible with the NATO Codification System;
- ensures the professional training of the employees of entities participating in the implementation of product cataloguing;
- cooperates with the Defence and Security Industry Association - provides information, expert consultations, conducts expert seminars on the method of cataloguing for defence purposes and in connection with the NATO Codification System.
